Cullowheekend

So part of my absence for the past few days can be attributed to a great weekend up in the mountains of NC near Cullowhee (thus the title- Cullowheekend). The trip was a great chance for me to do some outdoors shots and here are 5 of my favorites from the weekend since Blogger won't let me upload more than 5....
A bad idea never looked so good

Ash Wednesday

So it was Ash Wednesday today, and here are some shots of our burning palm fronds in the back yard.

Mate and Mustard Greens

So in an effort to keep the photos rolling, no matter how mundane, here are a couple of shots from my kitchen. My mate sitting on the shelf above the sink and a couple of shots of the chopped mustard greens that went into the lentil soup I'm making for our church's Ash Wednesday dinner.... Mmmmm....

Snowy Saturday

Back to the snow theme!
We got around 2-3 inches of snow Friday night (perfect snowball-making texture) and after a quick snowball fight with our dog, I decided to snap some shots before all the snow melted! There's also a completely random shot of some Korean snacks mixed in there from this afternoon.

I said that this would be a daily blog, I didn't necessarily claim that everything would be congruous :-)

(this one is slightly picnik-ed)

Old Bull

So apparently this whole daily post thing will take me a while to get into, let's hope this isn't an inauspicious start :-)

Part of the American Tobacco Campus in Durham has an illuminated sign that reads "Old Bull" with a Lucky Strike chimney and water tower in the background. Here are a couple of shots from Wednesday and Thursday of the campus facing south from Ramseur St.

Snow in January?

Spending most of my life up north and out west, snow in winter was hardly something to get worked up about, but here in Carolina, it's enough to close schools for 2.5 days! Anyway, here are a few shots I took from the Great Snowstorm of 2010.
